You would need to post the fax software you are using and the steps you are
using to send the fax.
Please be sure you have an analog fax modem hooked up to a plain old phone
line before you even think of trying to fax.

Hi,
If you are trying to send a message in the word document, you should
use "print" from the word document you are working on selecting "Symantec
Winfax starter edition" indtead of normal printer.
This makes the word document attached as fax image enabling it to be
sent by outlook fax process.
You also need outlook as e-mail program with internet explorer option
on PROGRAM TAB.

This is correct for many file types, but Word documents do have a printto
verb defined by default so the fax should still go as an attachment from
Outlook.
The message indicates a problem with Word, or the possiblility that your
file type does not have a printto verb defined. What is the file type? It
must be *.doc, not *.htm or some other file type.

hi,

Yes the file I attached is a word document with the
extension (.doc) but when i go to control panel and take
the printers option from there there is no "Symantec
Winfax starter edition" but there is my normal printer.
what procedures do I need to do to make "Symantec
Winfax starter edition" appear in the printer screen.
My Operating Systen is XP PRO
Is XP PRO compatiable with this system or not.

An early reply would be appreciated.

Hey, Office XP DOES NOT come with WinFax Starter Edition.
You have to purchase WinFax Pro for your Outlook2002.

It is very doubtful that WinFax SE is compatible with Windows XP Pro. It was
developed for Windows 98 and abandoned immediately thereafter. I got it to
work on Windows 2000, but know of no one who has ever tried in on Windows
XP, nor would I recommend it.

She didn't say she was using Office XP. She is using Office 2000.
And no, you do not have to purchase WinFax Pro, nor should you. It does not
run or integrate reliably on Windows XP/Outlook 2002.
Outlook 2000/2002 will integrate with Windows 2000 Fax and Windows XP Fax.
