cannot download

[pdtech]

I am running 2000 with iexplorer 6.0. When I try to
downoad anything I get a window with an icon in the upper
left hand corner. Thats it. Any idea's

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.

I have the same problem.

Machine perfect.....downloaded and installed all patches
and upgrades for w2k, after getting broadband........now
major problems with IE.

In fact seems to be getting worse

Unable to download anything!!! (emails ok, if small?)
Blank pages requiring multiple refreshes to fill, yet some
sites work fine???

Very irritated, tried all the usuall try of antivirus and
firewall etc made no difference.

any help appreciated.
