I cannot delete a message from my outbox. I keep getting the "unknown error"
has occured. i have looked through previous posts here but i am a complete
novice and the instruction displayed are beyond me. Is there a way i can
reset my Windows mail? I have backed up all messages so im ready to go.

Using VISTA on a dell laptop.

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

To use authentication when sending e‑mail
Click to open Windows Mail.

Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

Under Mail, click your e‑mail account, and then click Properties.

Click the Servers tab, and then, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My
server requires authentication check box.
