Cannot delete folders

Hi All
I have some folders which I created months ago & have
been using them (and the files within) without problem.

Having finished using them, I have tried to delete them with out success
I've tried everything from dragging the folders to the bin to using file
shredders,
all without success.Does anyone have any ideas? .I'm using windows xp home
ed.

Boot into Safe Mode.
Delete them there.
