I have a machine running XP Home.
I have two drives. The first is partitioned into c: and e: with the OS and
all my apps on c: drive and my data on e: drive.
The second hard drive is drive d: and is used exclusively to store video
files.
My problem is that somehow or other I have ended up with a strange folder on
drive d: The folder name is a long string of letters and numbers and it
contains two subfolders called sp1 and sp2. I assume these are Windows
service packs. I have the service packs safely installed on drive c: and I
want to get rid of the mysterious folder on drive d: but my machine won't
let me. I keep getting "access denied" or "cannot delete (folder name). Make
sure file is not in use" etc. etc.
I have tried changing the attributes to remove "Read Only" but that didn't
work. I also tried deleting the folder from a DOS window but that didn't
work either. I don't want to have to reformat this drive as I also have a
very large AVI file stored there that I don't want to lose and is too big to
transfer to any other storage.
Any ideas please?
TIA
