deleting hard drive

S

SS

I have 2 hard drives on PC C & D

C hard drive is the master and has win xp on it.
D hard drive also has windows xp on it plus other downloaded programmes.
I now have transferred all requirements to C drive from D drive.
Can I now just delete everything from d drive including the `old` windows.
I assume if this is ok I just open it and press delete on everything I don`t
want.

I have backed up certain folders on an external just in case, pics videos
etc.

You say you transferred all requirements...what does that mean.
You cannot transfer a program from one drive to the next...it needs to be
reinstalled on the C drive
in order to write to the registry of that XP.
Files that you created can be copied over...but not Programs
Then from withing the C's XP you can format the drive
This will erase everything on the D drive

Sorry I have not been clear on this, the D drive is my old C drive and I had
lots of pictures video clips etc (personal stuff) which I have now
transferred to an external and also to the new C drive,
So what is left is my old xp programme and some other programmes which I
have re downloaded to the new C drive. I basically want to now free the
space to use it as a back up / storage for the new drive.

Makes sense to do that..thanks

Here's what I'd do if I were unsure. Disconnect the D drive altogether.
Then boot back up and see if everything is working properly and
everything you want is there. If it is, then reconnect the other drive
and format it.

Yes.

Yes, but if you don't want anything on the drive, it's probably easier and
faster to format it.
