cannot delete a file

I have an old word 97 file that is corrupted - I need to delete it but cannot
do so as it is treated as an open doc or in use etc. I cannot open it either!
Is there any way of deleteing it as by back up (Norton) will not finish
because this file cannot be read.

Through Explorer try renaming it xxxx.txt and see if you can delete it then.

I found the answer with a simple program that is free called "MoveOnBoot"
from www.gibinsoft.net that moves to deltes during boot!
