Hi Art:
Like Graham, I am puzzled. I need the exact text of that error
message to be sure, but I think it may be saying "Cannot delete as
the file is in use."
That means Word is open when you tried to delete the Normal
template. You need to quit Word to release the file before the
system will allow you to delete it.
If you use Outlook as your email program, you will need to quit
Outlook as well. Both Word and Outlook lock the Normal template.
If the error message really is saying that it cannot delete
Normal.dot because the file is corrupt, then you have a much more
serious problem. It means that your hard disk is failing, and you
need to get expert assistance quickly, before you lose your whole
computer and all of the data in it.
Cheers
I have transferred a new Normal.dot file to replace a corrupt
version , but I cannot delete the old corrupt file as it say
"cannot delete as file is corrupt", how do I get rid of it, any
suggestions?
