Cannot create new folders in Windows Explore

Hello,
I have a new computer with WinXP pro, whenever I try to
create a new folder in Windows explore the computer locks
up and does not respond. I have reloaded the machine and
I'm still having the same problem. It also happens under
any profile. Any ideas?

This isn't really enough information to give you a specific answer, but
if this is a new computer, I'd take it back immediately and get one
that works. Unless you've done something amazingly awful, this should
not be happening on a new box.

Hi,

See if this applies: Most Hotbar users can't right click New/Folder on the
desktop or Windows Explorer without system freezing and/or crashing.

If this is the case for you, there are two extensions that have to be
removed from this hive/key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

You will find a .dll and .jpg with an extremely long name. Those two need
to be removed to regain functionality, even though Hotbar has been removed,
it leaves these behind.

If this is not the case try these suggestions:

Right click a blank area on the Desktop/Properties/Appearance
/Effects. In the Effects dialog box, click to clear the: "Use the following
Transition effect for menus and tooltips check box, and ok your way out.
And/or: Click the folder or file that you want (select it) before you
right-click it to display the shortcut menu.

Wow. Good work on figuring this out Kelly. This category of browser
parasites (hotbars with "extras") seem to get more destructive every day.

two long extensions and followed up on a few more cases. And that was the
winning ticket.

So true! <s> I don't often recommend registry fixes for the beginner users
that I deal with on a regular basis. They're still trying to figure out
copy and paste and just about faint when I show them the Registry Editor.
Personally, however, I do spend quite a bit of time there.

Btw, one of your regfixes helped me out the other day. My task manager was
refreshing only with a manual refresh. It would also do okay if I stepped
up the refresh frequency but those results were visually annoying! The
"task manager_reset.reg" that you have on your site set it straight again.
