"Cannot creat folder" error

I am getting a "Server error: Cannot create folder xyz" when I try to
publish from my PC to my site. It happens to be a sub-folder in an image
folder. The publishing then stops. I had been editing this site "live" on
the server, but just published it back to my hard drive tonight, so I could
edit files locally before uploading. This error then occurred. What is
causing this?

It happened the second time I tried to upload/publish. The first time, a
dialog box asking if I wanted to delete certain files that weren't on the
destination site, and I answered YES TO ALL. Maybe I shouldn't have? I am
now wondering why there would have been files out of whack, since as I
mentioned, I just published back to my hard drive tonight and ostensibly,
the sites should have been identical. Sorry for rambling.

What is the name and path to the folder locally?

Local path =
c:\documents and settings\ed\my documents\websites\swimaqua\images\....

and it is the first subfolder in the Images folder of this site on my PC.
For a test, I moved the offending subfolder, but then the NEXT folder in
line [in the Images folder] was the one mentioned when the "cannot create
folder" error occurred. Is this a problem with my server/host company? The
fact that the next folder in line to be published couldn't either...doesn't
seem server wants to create ANY folder at this point!!

How are you creating/moving these folders?

What I meant was; you're creating the folder, or moving it, from within FP - not with Windows Explorer right?

Try creating a folder of identical name directly on the server, then publish up to the server, see what happens.

I've never run into this problem with creating folders...although I have with folders/files that I have copied down and tried to re-publish back up...namely: stat folders/files (which I guess are not modifiable or something).

Contact your host and ask them to run a check on the extensions for your account. They could be out
of server temp space.
