cannot copy files to another networked computer

my network connections work fine - i can open network connections on my
second computer's master and slave drives but i can only copy files to the
master drive and not the slave drive. i am backing up 30gb of data to the
second computer's master drive then moving it to the second computer's slave
drive. this is doubleing the time. does any one have any sugestions???
i have plenty of space on the slave and i can read the slave. (i have
limited space on the master so i am backing up in several steps and i would
like to do it in one step).
