cannot connect to server or DNS error

Hi,
I have the IE page not found problem - cannot connect to
server or DNS error
(res://c:\windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm). I am
using IE 6.0 on Windows XP Home Edition.
I do have connection. I can use MSN Messenger and download
using Windows Updates.
I tried WinsockFix - didn't work.
I tried SpyBot to remove all spywares but it didn't fix IE.
I tried sfc /scannow didn't work.
I tried repairing registry tabs using this link:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/RepairTabs.reg --- didn't work.

When I type a URL I think, I gets an IP address because I
can see the message 'connecting to 216.109.127.30..'
message on the status bar.

I am not able to reinstall IE - 2 reasons - Bufffer Over
run in HTML Converter, Logo testing compatibility with
windows XP failed.

Any solutions appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Regards,
Rashmi

Some issues with your type of errors.

How to Configure Internet Explorer to Work with AOL as Your ISP
All of a sudden I can't launch I.E. 6 to connect to the internet UNLESS I
have first connected with AOL. If AOL isn't launched and I try to do IE6 I
get this:
C:windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm If you have AOL or had it then try
this fix.

From: "Michel Desrochers" in a previous post.
I have a workstation running Win98. The IP address is correct. Netstat
results are fine. Tracert to DSB server is fine. When I type in any url I
receive "The Page Cannot be Displayed". The error at the top reads:
"RES://C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http://www.google.com

Solution: I finally find that my problem come from a bad deinstallation of
new domain (a spyware come with Kazaa). I downloaded the uninstall program
that came from their web site and then I can access to the internet back.
It was New Net a parasite. http://www.new.net/support/uninstall4_80.exe.
Yours may be different.
KaZaa and all it's parasites
New dot Net, NewNet

IE 6. Rule out parasites like Kazaa and others.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
