Hi,
I installed win xp sp 1 in my box since it was crashed. This one uses
wireless connection so after installing xp I installed the drivers and
now I can see it shows it is connected but when ever I tried connect
any web sites, I get 'Server not found/page not found' (firefox/ie). I
ran the winfix still didn't resolve the problem. I did ipconfig and I
see the ipaddress. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
Thanks.

OK, this may be a little long, but it will help in finding the problem

go to Start > Run, type cmd the hit enter

type ipconfig then hit enter

see if you have an IP address that doesn't start with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx

if you don't the procede to the next step

look for the gateway address

the type Ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (whatever the gateway address is)

if that comes back with 4 replays, continue

Next ping 4.2.2.2

If that gives you a reply, then go to the next step

(Here it will probably fail)

Next ping yahoo.com

let me know where it fails

He said he could ping the IP addresses, so I am guessing that maybe he
doesn't have TCP/IP installed or it is configured incorrectly, or not used by
the adapter. To check, right-click your connection in Network Connections and
click Properties. Make sure TCP/IP is listed and that it is checked.

Thanks and I do not see default ateway, that is blank. I have ipaddress
and subnet mask but not the default gateway, will that give any
insight?
Thanks again helping me.

Also I pinged the ip address and got reply back but when I tried
4.2.2.2 all the pockets were lost.
Thanks again helping me.
