Robert,

Thanks for responding my request for help. I appreciate it.

I am using Verizon supplied WESTEL (Wirespeed) DSL modem.
As per Verizon support, all tehy asked me to try are
completely power off modem, PC and bringing them back-up
again, uninstalling ethernet card driver and installing
again, and setting up low speed 10-duplex mode also did
not help. They aslo asked me to try changing DSL
ID/Password several times. Finally Verizon says, we cannot
support because Microsoft XP SP2 is causing this issue,
and contact Microsoft for support.

Let me know if you need more information for help.

Thanks,
Ugandhar

Robert,

I forgot to send the following details you asked me.
I am using Verizon supplied WESTEL WIRESPEED modem. IP
Addresses are dynamically assigned by Verizon DSL server.
What is DLS IP?
I am using TCP/IP. But I am not sure about DHCP.

I greatly appreciate your help on this.
I tried the following with Verizon TECH support.
1) Powering off Modem and PC in a sequence and restarting
both.
2) Uninstalling and installing ETHERNET card device driver.
3) Changing TCP/IP LAN to use 10 MBPS in DUPLEX mode.
4) Changing DSL password several times
5) Finally Verizon says I have to contact Microsoft for
support on SP2.

Thanks,
Ugandhar

Open the TCP/IP properties of the LAN or wireless connection, General
tab, Advanced properties, Options tab, TCP/IP filtering properties,
Check Enable filtering, change Permit None to Permit All in all three
places. You need a personal firewall when making this change.

I had a similar issue with DHCP from my router after SP2
was installed. Download and run WinSockXPFix. It fixed my
problem.

Thanks to Dave and Quaoar,

I contacted Microsoft for help on this. They recommended
me to Uninstall and re-install Zone Alarm Firewall. This
is the real issue. At the time of auto update/install of
SP2 if any one has Personal firewalls installed could
cause issues.

This fixed my DSL connectivity issues.

Once again thanks for help.

ipconfig /all will display the tcp/ip settings.
