Cannot change default format of new mail messages

I’m using Outlook 2003 with Word 2003 as my HTML e-mail editor. When I
create a new e-mail message, the paragraph formatting of the message body is
set for 0 pt “after Spacingâ€. I would like to change this default so that
“Auto†is the “after Spacing†format. I have edited both EMAIL.DOT and
NORMAL.DOT to have this property. However, new e-mail messages still have the
old “after†paragraph spacing.

I thought Word/Outlook 2003 stored the default formatting for new mail
messages in EMAIL.DOT but this does not appear to be the case. Where does
Word/Outlook store this information and how can I change it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mary,

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, I may not be understanding it. How
do I use the mail message form to set paragraph spacing properties? When I
click on the message body object in the form, I cannot find a menu item that
will allow me to change the text attributes associated with the object. I
thought these types of properties were controlled by email.dot. No?

Mary, please ignore my last post. I finally figured it out on my own. I had
to change the paragraph spacing properties of the default paragraph style.
Once I set the style's "after" spacing to "Auto", every new message and reply
I create now has that property.

Thanks again for trying to help!
