Hello,

After installing Windows XP SP2 I have been unable to burn music to CD-Rs.
I normally use I-Tunes, Media Player, and have also tried Record Now. All
three programs start to copy the files to disc and stop before the first song
is completed. Each program posts an error: i-tunes "Error 4450" is the only
example that I have.

NateD,

Consider setting your burner to write a slower speed. There are some
reports associated with that error that noted speeds less than "maximum"
or just a lower setting have worked.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Try reducing the burning speed to 8x and see if that resolves the
problem. It has for at least some people.

If it does then you might want to try a differnt brand of CD-R disks
and/or you can tinker with setting the burning speed to higher values
(12x, 16x, 24x, 32x, etc) until the problem returns.

Good luck

Fred S,

Tried all different write speeds and still receive the same error. I will
try a different brand of disc, although, I can't see how the memorex discs I
have used in the past have all of sudden stop being valid on this computer.

Fred S,

Tried all different burn speeds to no avail. Still receive the same error.
I will try another brand of CDR, although Memorex worked just fine before
this problem began.

Will let you know, thanks.

Check what data transfer mode the drive is using. It may be using PIO
instead of DMA. Here is an excellent article by MVP Hans-Georg Michna
explaining the issue and giving the fix:
