Unable to burn cds

Hello,

I am using a toshiba tecra M2 and I seem to be able to burn CDS, winXP pro,
SP 2. I just cuts short in the finalization stage and says there was an
error, it also doesn't work with 3rd party burning software.. I have enabled
CD recording on the device to no avail. Could there be another program
conflicting with the burning ?

Could be.. Uninstall all Third party applications that burn CDs and do your
scans for spyware/adware and a disk cleanup followed by a defragmentation...

Then try - using just Windows XP - to burn one file on a CD. One small
file.
If that works - go larger.

If that doesn't work - if you have access to an external USB/firewire
burner - try burning on that - it could be your drive is defective.

(You could look for a firmware update from the manufacturer - it may need
one.)

What happens when you reboot into Safe Mode and retry burning a CD?
