cannot boot XP Pro - runs scandisk

when my machine boots, scandisk runs...then it reboots,
then scandisk runs...it is in a loop and cannot complete
the boot.

I assume you mean "chkdsk" since there is no scandisk in XP. Download a
utility from your hard drive mftr. to test your hard drive for failure.
