I am not able to attach a zip file as an attachment in a new message in
Outlook 2003. The only options I get to attach is word, excel, html or text
files.

I am not using Outlook 2003 with any Exchange Server. I use a POP3 Server.

Hi Denis,
do you tried it with Insert > File?

Thanks Andreas for your interest.

I have even tried that option but, it did not solved my problem.

Hi Denis,
have you tried to move the zip fiile directly into the item?
(rightclick onto the zip file, hold the right mouse button and move it into
it)

Hi Andreas,

Yes, I can attach a zip file that way. Even I can add it by right clicking
on the zip file and then select "Send To -> Mail Recipient".

But, when I select "attach a file" while composing a new message or while
replying/fwding a message, I cannot attach a zip file. The attach dialog box
has options for attaching only Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Text or HTML Files.
Why So? And what is the remedy to it.

Thanks again,

Denis

And All Files (*.*) I assume?

Choose Start-> Run; regvr32 zipfldr.dll

You might need to restart your machine for changes to take effect.

Are we talking about Windows XP here?
Do you have a third party compress tool installed? How do you normally
create your zip-files?
