Attaching Zip files in Outlook

At work, in Outlook, if I attempt to attach a .zip file to a new message,
any file with the .zip extension is not displayed in the Attachment browse
box. (Although I can still right-click .zips and do a 'Send To'). But
this is only if I have Word set as Outlook's e-mail editor.

If I don't have Word set as the editor, I can then see .zips in the browse
box and attach them to new e-mails with no problem.

Why is that?

Version of Outlook? It may not matter, since it's a bug in the zip folder
extension, but AFAIK, it either worked or it didn't. Anyway... see if this
