Cannot access shared folders on USB drive

John

I can share folders on my internal hard drives and access them from my other
LAN connected computer just fine, but cannot remotely access shared folders
on any USB drive connected to my computer.

I have a home network with 2 machines running WinXP Pro and NIS2010 on both.

I have tried disabling the firewalls and AV progs on both machines and still
cannot access the shared USB drive folders.

Is there something special that has to be done to share a folder on a USB
drive?

I appreciate your help, -John

Just a thought - I'm no expert - but are you plugging the drive into the
same port each time, and safely removing it? USB can be pretty fickle about
such things. Is it given a new drive letter and address every time you plug
it in? You can give it a drive letter of its own from higher up the
alphabet, if there is a clash. Have you shared the root and all its
subfolders? I expect you have. Mind you, I find I can't always even
remotely access my shared printer...
