Cannot access CD-Rom drive

While attempting to install a new program, I discovered that I cannot access
the CD-Rom drive. It seems that the drive has simply ceased to exist. I tried
getting to it from My Computer, Control Panel, etc, but nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do?
