Cancelling automatic activation?

I set up an oem version of Vista Home Premium on my A7N8X nforce2
motherboard - only to find out that major features (such as ethernet and 5.1
sound) aren't supported for nforce2 under Vista. It's a shame because the
processor, memory and graphics otherwise work well together to give a decent
experience.

I've looked for workarounds and I've had some success with getting 2 channel
sound but no joy with ethernet drivers.

Anyway, during setup I didn't uncheck the "automatic activation" box and now
Vista tells me that it will automatically activate in 2 days.

Is there any way I can cancel automatic activation so that I can use the
current key on another system (which I have yet to buy!)

If I upgrade the current motherboard and processor will I still be able to
use oem Vista on the current system or will the hardware changes render
render the key useless?

Btw, during installation (from XP) I noticed that the Vista install gave me
the option to do an upgrade or a full install. I thought that oem Vista only
allowed for a full/clean install?

Thanks for any help.

Gareth.

Vista is not tied to hardware like XP was - even if the automatic activation
gives you problems just call the activation number and sort it by phone.

Thanks Mac and Jon.

Yes, I think I may have to reinstall. I would have liked to avoid
reinstalling because it's taken a long time tofit various generic drivers
together to get Vista kind of working with nforce2.

There must be a registry entry that's responsible for automatic acivation.
