Can you reassign "my documents" on an individual basis?

If there is one thing I hate about XP its the "My documents" concept - I
don't WANT everything in the same place.

Alas, too many programs stupidly only save their stuff there.

Now I know you can move the whole folder, but that doesn't help, then
its still all the stuff in the same place.

Now i was wondering, short of hacking exe's - is there some way to
reassign My documents on a pr. program basis?

I am not aware of any program that "stupidly only save their stuff there". To the best of my knowledge, you can save your work anywhere you like. My Documents is only the default location.

And if it bugs you that much that My Documents is the default, there's lots of programs that let you specify a different default, like Office and Windows Media Player.

I like the idea of saving all my work in the same place...it makes it real easy to backup.

Good for you. I've seen tons of them (granted 50% of them are games but
still)

So no help from you only bitching at me. Why don't you do something
constructive instead (such as learning how to quote)

And also the "Application Data" folder, which is an even bigger problem
actually...
