How to make screens so I can read everything on them without scrol

R

Richard

Many screens/boxes, like the Property Box, are much too narrow to read
everything on them, yet the screens/boxes are not sizable. When I click on
Properties and look at Location, all I see is a small part of the path:
"C:\Documents and Settings\*******.*******-C6NVMW7G4\My"
and the rest of the path is hidden:
"Documents\Files\Historical Society\Correspondence with MJD"

Sometimes I can move the cursor over the info and a "tool tip" lets me read
the whole line. Other times that does not work and I have to click on the
info and use the right arrow key to move through all of the line. This is
especially tedious now that all files have this prefix in their paths:
"C:\Documents and Settings\*******.*******-C6NVMW7G4\My Documents/etc."

This problem turns up in many other screens besides Properties. Is there
any way to resize those screens? I mean in a generic way, not separately in
each and every program.

Thank you for your help.

Not a solution, but another band-aid cure, click to get the cursor on
the "Location" line, then press the "End" key to see the last portion of
the path.

Change the DPI and font/icon size to a normal size - not larger/extra large
or 120dpi.
Also - change the screen resolution to something 1024x768 or larger.

Thanks Elmo & Shenan for your prompt replies.

Sometimes the path is too long for using End, but often that is sufficient.

As for resolution, mine already is set at 1024x768 and font size is 10, so
that doesn't do it.

Why MS insists on a screen that can't be maximized, I'll never understand.
Guess the water is different on the West Coast from where I live.

Thanks again, R-
