I have a no-longer used work station with NT as the operating system. I
would like to retrieve some of the data from the old hard drive by slaving
it to a pc running xp pro. will xpp be able to read the NT files?

Thanks in advance,

John

Yup - just slave the drive and plug it up and you'll be fine.

Hi, John.

Yes, WinXP can read older NTFS versions just fine.

But if you let WinXP write to that volume, WinNT4 probably will not be able
to read it anymore. For more guidance on this topic, ask the gurus in the
File System newsgroups.

Provided you've an application installed on the WinXP box that can
open/read those data files, certainly.

Yes. You may need though to "Take Ownership" of the drive; search that
topic in Help and Support
