I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with

Pentium IV
2.40 GHz Processor
30 GB HDD (14.6 GB free)
512 MB of DDR SDRAM

I need to edit a huge file, apx 2GB. Is there anything I can adjust to
temporarily make this possible. Currently I am running WordPad and I
receive a message regarding insufficient virtual memory. It completely
loads the file and just doesn't have the power for the editing functions.

Note that the virtual memory is initially 768 and max's out at 1536 MB.

Thank you for considering my problem.

you can increase the vm, but I doubt that a text file requires 2gb ram. are
there embbed images in the file?

Sorry about that . . . I found the info in XP's Help and Support.

With your endorsement I feel brave, so will proceed.

Thanks for that!
