Can this major problem be reversed?

I have recently installed McAfee Virus Guard on my
computer, which came with MSN. As soon as I installed
it, several of my programs stopped having the ability to
work. Every time I double click on the icons, it says
the address of the program in my hard drive, and then it
says:

Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory
requrest was completed.

I have tried uninstalling McAfee virus scan, and that
doesn't help. To top it all off, the virus scanner
deleted all of my restore points because I had a virus
and it needed to eliminate it. What can I do to fix this
massive problem?

Try booting to xp cd,select recovery,press enter key for password,
at cmd screen type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru type:EXIT
Let xp restart,and remove xp cd
