Hi

Have you been into Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices - Sounds tab, to make sure that the Windows Startup sound is enabled?

You could be deaf.

But if that is not the case, look at the control
panel/sounds and be sure all desired modes are not muted.

Make sure you have plugged your speakers into the correct
port.

Try a headset.

It is possible that a sound card jumper wire is not properly
connected, but I'd guess that your system is muted, there
are several places to look for these mute checkboxes.
