Can send, but cannot receive mail.

Alright, so I've got my computer running on Vista, hooked up to a LAN. The
computer upstairs that I share the LAN with runs on XP. Upstairs comp uses
Outlook Express and I use Windows Mail.
We're on the same server for email.
However, Outlook Express is fully functional, and on my Windows Mail
account, I can send but not receive.
Both computers are running Norton 360.

There is no error message when I click 'Send/Receive', but I received this
error when I attempted to send an e-mail to myself:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'lol',
Account: 'Windows Mail', Server: 'smtp8.sympatico.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '550 Invalid recipient: <[email protected]>', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

What should I do?

Thanks for any help.

We have seen many reports here that Windows Mail is not
compatible with most Norton security programs. Norton 360
will need to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Your subject says you can send but not receive, but the body and error
message indicate that you can't send.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.
