Can recently used file list entries be increased from 9 in Word?

I use Word/Office 97. The maximum number of files last used in Word appears
to be 9. The question is self explanatory. If the number can be increased,
how do I do that?

To my knowledge, it cannot. There may be some 3rd party tools that do it.
