Can PowerPoint object layers be flattened as with Photoshop?

For PowerPoint 2003, 2007:
I want to "freeze" the slides, so that they can not be altered, but are
still presentable as a slide show. I hope this will also decrease the file
size.

The best example I can give is with Photoshop: a document may have many
layers of objects to it (all capable of being moved), but it can all be
flattened down to one, layer with all the different objects now fixed in
place.

I believe that will be converting them to images then.
Are there many slides?
If it's just a few, start off with a new presentation, go into slide show
view, and do a print screen, then paste it on the new presentation. You will
need to do this on every slide.

If there are many slides, click File > Save as. Under save as type, click on
the dropdown list, look for PNG Portable Network Graphics Format. Click Save.
When prompted, select Every Slide. Now, open a new presentation. Then click
Insert > Picture > New Photo Album > File/Disk. Select all the slide images.
Click Insert.

No, however you can export the slides as an image and then place them on a
blank slide. This of course does not support animations.

You can password protect 2003 and 2007. In 2003, go to tools > security...

You can convert the PPT to a PDF and show it that way -- of course the
animation will not be maintained.

As has been suggested, you can export to images then import the images back in.

As a rule, this won't decrease file size though. The opposite, as a rule.

Sorry didn't mean to post that above! While I'm here you can set a password
that prevents modification as Sandy said. In 2007 when you' save as' expand
the tools dropdown and choose general options.
