Can only save jpgs as untitled.bmp

Yes, I know this question has been asked and answered a million times
but, all of a sudden, nothing is working for me. I have deleted all of
my temporary Internet files and I can still only save jpgs as
untitled.bmp. I checked the MS Knowledge Base
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810978) and ended up removing ALL of
the programs in the downloaded program files folder (there is now
nothing listed) and I can still only save jpgs as untitled.bmp. I
haven't installed any new software and I have no idea what is causing
this. Anyone have any other suggestions to fix it?

Your TIF-related folders (cache) may themselves be damaged. Delete them:
