Can only open max of 2 IE 6 windows then subsequent ones hang

I have IE 6 on my win2k laptop and since having the upgrade I have experienced the following problem:

I can open up IE and connect with the first session I open. I can then do the same with another session. After I have 2 sessions open any more I try to open merely hang and offer no error message or even timeout. If I shut down my two active sessions then I cannot get any to work at all unless I completely switch off machine and then reboot - I can then open up a max of 2 sessions again. If I open up a new window from one of the 2 active sessions I have running then i can open up as many as I chose like this.
Any help will be ever-so-gratefully received, many thanks in advance.

Try the following and see if it helps.

Open Multiple Windows In IE

To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in the main
menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window, click the X in the
top right-hand corner or select Close from the File menu. You can also open
a new browser window with Ctrl+N.
