Can only go online though IE

For some reason I can only go online though IE. Two applications that I
frequently run Firefox and World of Warcraft can’t connect to the internet. I
can not ping websites through the command promt.

I am on a DSL connection going through a router. But even if I bypass the
router and make a manual connection, IE is still the only thing that can go
online. My (connections – Lan Settings) are all unckecked.

Check your security software on the PC itself. At least you know it isn't
the connection, the router, or the likes. It is surely something installed
on your PC that is blocking it.

Thank you very much. For some reason I was running I firewall that I forgot I
had. It wasn't listed in the task pane but when I uninstalled it everything
works fine now. Thanks :)

If your PC is clean and you're using a well configured router with firewall
capacity you should be all set but turning on the XP firewall isn't a bad
idea.
