SO i can only get connected wireless to my modem( i have a built in wi-fi
adapter), but when i plug in my ethernet cable.....my computer does not
detect it. HELP...

Did you turn off the Wi-Fi connection first then try connecting by Ethernet?
Also Open Device Manager > expand 'Network Adapter" > select your Ethernet
device > right click it > and click Scan for hardware changes, then try
connecting again.

Hi,

Is that port enabled in the system BIOS?
Does it show as working in Device Manager?
Did it work previously?
Is the connection light "on" on the card itself indicating activity?

start>settings>network connections - click on that button to open a view
of what's where...

Is the connection marked disabled? From there you should also be able to
check your settings and you probably want DHCP or "Automatic" allocation
of DNS and IP address to avoid conflicts.

In the properties you should find a "Display In Taskbar when connected"
box so check that as well.
