I have two XP Home PC's networked together sharing a broadband connection.
The problem is that the client machine can access Google with no difficulty
and search for sites. However if I try to load any of the found pages, the
status bar reaches half way and then stops.

Similarly it can Ask Jeeves questions and receive search results but not
load the found pages.

If I type url addresses directly into the address bar (eg www.bbbc.co.uk) I
have the same no load problem.

Both machines are running Norton Security Firewall and Antivirus. I have
tried disabling these but to no avail.

Both machines can freely talk to each other and share files and the server
has no difficulty accessing web sites. The home network connection is not XP
firewalled, nor is the isp connection.

Any help would be gratefully received

How do you have the DNS set on the slave machine? Can you ping some known IP
from the slave machine if you give it a numeric (24.128.1.82 for example)?
What happens if you ping NS4.ATTBB.NET which is the equivalent to the
previous numeric if your DNS is working properly?
