Can not start computer browser service in XP

I can not start the Computer browser service in XP it fails with a
dependancy not present. I also have a issue with the renaming my computer;
it is grayed out with a note at the bottom "The identification of the
computer cannot be changed because Networking is not installed or is not
properly configured".

I have tried to deleted and re-install the network but hat does not work. I
do have TCIP working and can get to the internet.

For "Computer Browser" to work it needs "Server" and "Workstation"
services running.

Are those services running? You can check by running "services.msc" (no
quotes) at the command prompt.

Thanks for the reply:

Server is running but workstation will not start gives an error of 2250. I
looked it up and gives this
The specified service stopped unexpectedly with the error indicated in the
message. Windows does not recognize the service's error code.

PS. I just found a error when the workstation tries to start: I get the
following error :

"Could not load RDR device driver."

Thanks for the help.

I am having the exact same problem. But why can't it load the driver? What
file is missing or corrupted?
