Can not share files. Please help

I have been trying to share files with friends but the
transfer always fails! This is what it says;

We could not send this file because the connection is
blocked. Please contact your network administrator or
Internet service provider; they may be able to enable file
transfers.
Could someone please help?

You can only send files to people on your Friends list -
but i presume this is not the problem?
Do your friends have a firewall that is set up to
agressively protect them?
