Can not save images as .jpg

J

Jesse

I'm not using AOL.

Using IE, when I right click an image (.jpg) on a
webpage, click save picture as, the file extension
changes to .bmp in the save picture window.

A 50kb .jpg file ends up being a 1.3mb .bmp.

But, if the image has a hyperlink (thumbnail), I can
right click it, save target as, and save the target .jpg
just fine.

Hi,

Control Panel/Internet options, on the general tab click the "delete files"
under Temporary Internet Files. This problem occurs when the cache is full.

I've noticed this behaviour, and most of the time your internet cache is to
blame. It's easy enough to empty it, just click Tools > Internet Options,
and in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files. If you
wish, the size of your cache can be changed by clicking the Settings button;
simply move the slider or type in the desired value and click OK.

However, even after clearing the cache, there are particular servers I
notice that still exhibit this problem. For example, I normally have my
cache set at 1MB... for this particular test, I set it to 500MB, thus I
would have enough room for a crap-ton of images. On these particular
servers, even when the address is something to the effect of
"http://domain.com/myImage.jpg", thus specifically pointing to a file I am
guaranteed is a .jpg, I am still only able to save as .bmp. Maybe it's a
problem with or setting on the server, or maybe it's something corrupted on
my machine.

It has nothing to do with whether the cache is "full" or
not.
