Can not login to Windows XP after Sasser, immediately logout

Hello,

After hit by the Sasser Virus, I can not login anymore to
XP-Professional.
The following happens:

1) The normal login windows appears, but there is an Error Dialog box
also, with no text inside.
2) If I type username&password, I login (a wrong uname gives the usual
error),
but I am logged out immediatelly. No desktop appears.
3) If I boot in Save mode, the same happens.

4) Services are still started (e.g. I can connect to a network share
of the machine).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Were you able to remove the Sasser worm? In other words, is this problem
the result of the Sasser Worm or the result of removing the Sasser worm?

Hi Michael,

I was not able to install the update since I could not login.
However, I found that userinit.exe was missing. I reinstalled the file
and now I can login again.
