can not log in user into network

Hi,

I have an xp pro computer in my network. It was working fine for about 2
weeks. Then all of a sudden I could not log in. I had tried other user logins
plus the administrator login with no luck. Here is the error:

Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller
is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not
found.

I had to go in locally. I changed it from a domain to a workstation back to
a domain, and even changed the name of the computer. Went onto the the Active
Directory and deleted the account and created it again.

I had finally been able to log in under the domain. One problem. It created
a new user (folder) under documents and setting. [user].[domain].000
what are the 0's all about? Why did it create this folder and how can I
revert back to the correct folder?

Run regedit.exe and navigate here:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList:
Now locate the value ProfileImagePath that points to your current
profile folder, then change it back to the old profile folder and
reboot the machine.
