can not install yahoo messenger

Hi All!
I am not able to download and install Yahoo messenger on my system, i have
windows vista home basic....can anyone help?

The 9.0 Beta works on Vista according Brandon Leblanc:

You might want to give that a try.

You don't say exactly what happens when you tried to install it. I tried it
the first time and it crashed every time I tried to use it. If that is the
problem, the latest update fixes it. I am using Vista Home Premium

However, after installing that, that problem was solved but now I cannot
sign in. It continues to tell me I have the wrong id or password but when I
change it, using their password reset, it has no effect. When I go back to
8.0 -- it works again.
