can not install microsoft works into another computer

Hello,
I bought a notebook computer and it came with microsoft
works software. I try to install it into my desktop
computer and it did not let me install. Can you tell me
what can I do to install it? I really think that it would
not be fair that i have the software and can not install
it in another computer that is mine.
