Can not get SP2

D

Danny

Hello, I am a new XP user, in fact just upgraded a week
ago from 98. Now I am told to get sp2 and that is fine,
but I keep getting the "there are no available updates"
from the windows update site. I have done all the pre
downloads per tech support instructions. I have a new
machine and went to the compaq site and got all the
drivers available to me and updates. I have updated
everything. But the forum I was on in windows showed that
if I recieve that messege (above) then I am not ready for
SP2. I have SP1 and think I am as up to date as I can get.
Any Ideas as to why windows update tells me no available
updates for me? Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

SP2 is not available to the average end-user at this time. Please follow
the steps on Microsoft's website to obtain SP2 as soon as it become publicly
available.

SP2 will be downloaded as soon as Microsoft releases it.

If you absolutely cannot wait for SP2 to show up for you on
Windows Update, use this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Download

Note: This is the full download. Using the Windows Update method
will only download the components that apply to your system.

and just to avoid any confusion:

Both methods will install only the components that apply to your
system, the only difference is the initial download size.

(many thinks that the 266 MB "network" version of SP2 installs
networking components that the WU/Express version of SP2 does not)
