can not enable quick flag in outlook 2003

I have gone though the help procedure
1)On the View menu, point to Arrange By, point to Current View, and then
click Customize Current View.
2)Click Other Settings.
3)Under Other Options, select the Show Quick Flag column check box
the box is grayed out and does not allow me to check it...
Please help

What view are you trying to customize? If it's a default view like Messages,
try resetting it.
