I have an XP system running AOL 9.1. I want to upgrade to 9.5 but the system
will not let me download.

When I click on download nothing happens.

The first download page I tried for AOL 9.5, gives a small download of 205KB.
I think the thing they're trying to give you, is some kind of download manager.
Maybe they think someone on dialup would need a thing like that. This is the file.

Now, their frequently asked questions page has an alternative.

1. I'm having trouble downloading or installing AOL 9.5. What do I do?

We apologize if you're having difficulty downloading or installing AOL 9.5.
The problem may be resolved by choosing an alternate download site -- click here.

The "click here" goes to this page.

And when you get to that page, and click the download link, a much larger file is
downloaded. You could right click on the "Download" button, select save as
and save the file. This is the link of the file that downloads. 41.7MB in size.
That might take a couple hours on dialup.

Maybe the problem is, the downloading of an executable file. I don't know
if there is a security setting that can prevent that or not. I don't have
any problems downloading executables. But a lot of the time, I use Firefox
for that.
