can not delete file

WAYNE

I downloaded a file that was a small video clip with an
AVI extension. it would not play at all so i decided to
delete it.
I am unable to delete the file or move it or basically
anything, says that it is in use by another program,
access denied etc. I have even tried starting up in safe
mode but it still says its in use by another program, but
i can't see how this can be. i am starting to wonder if
this is some sort of virus as its so weird. (file was
downloaded on Kazaa lite if that makes a diffrence).
Can anyone suggest anything, thanks.

The only thing i can suggest is if you are using XP is to
log into someone elses account and try then, or restart
your computer and delete it before running any other
programs. Dunno if it helps but it worked for me.

I am the only user on this computer and I am having the same problem.
You can delete the file in DOS, but you can not delete or move the
file in XP.

Something isn't right.

Here's a real solution to this problem. All those other methods do
not work:

I believe theres another fix for that:
open regedit,find the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/CLSID/{87D62D9
4-71B3-4b9a-9489- 5FE6850DC73E}/InProcServer32

and delete it.
hope it helps.

also following reg key can cause problems:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / MediaPlayer / Player /
RecentFileList
This should be also deleted.

Back up and usual blah-blah-blah
Worked for me when an avi file just froze my pc Had the same exact
problem as you
