Can I use Microsoft Works 2000 with Windows 2000?

I have Windows 2000 operating system. Can anyone tell me
if Microsoft Works 2000 will work reasonably well? I am
trying to find a dirt-cheap 'Excel' type program to run on
Windows 2000.

Yes, it will run. As to working reasonably well? I don't know - I've never
used it, but I don't think you should have any problems related to the OS.
 
You might want to try the Star office suite, obtainable from Amazon amongst
others
If the Works spreadsheet is anything like its database its very rudimentary
