Can I upgrade?

I have an old version of Access 2.0 on floppy discs. When I purchased a new
home computer last year, I just reinstalled my Office 2000 Standard and
didn't bother with the old version of Access. My operating system is
Windows XP Pro.

I now find I need a database program and wonder if I can
purchase a stand-alone version of Access (2000 or 2002)
at the upgrade price? If not, will Access 2.0 install OK on Windows XP and
will it work for simple applications?

Thanks!

Yes, you qualify for an upgrade price with 2.0 and, yes, 2.0
will work on XP as well.

Wow, I stand corrected, but very surprised.

Over the last couple of versions, it seems Microsoft will only allow the two
immediately preceding versions to qualify for upgrades. My version of
Access 2.0 is an upgrade and I used dBase III as the qualifying product (and
I still have that dBase III disk!). I seem to recall that you could upgrade
to Access 2.0 from practically anything. Times have changed, haven't they?
<smile>.
